Want a Donut

There was a certain Professor of Religion named Dr. Christianson, a
studious man who taught at a small college in the western United States.
Dr. Christianson taught the required survey course in Christianity at this
particular institution.   Every student was required to take this course
their freshman year, regardless of his or her major.

Although Dr. Christianson tried hard to communicate the essence of the
gospel in his class; he found that most of his students looked upon the
course as nothing but required drudgery.   Despite his best efforts, most
students refused to take Christianity seriously.

This year, Dr. Christianson had a special student named Steve.   Steve was
only a freshman, but was studying with the intent of going onto seminary
for the ministry.   Steve was popular, he was well liked, and he was an
imposing physical specimen.   He was now the starting center on the school
football team and was the best student in the professor's class.

One day, Dr. Christianson asked Steve to stay after class so he could talk
with him.   "How many push-ups can you do?"

Steve said, "I do about 200 every night."

"200?   That's pretty good, Steve," Dr. Christianson said. "Do you think
you could do 300?"

Steve replied, "I don't know... I've never done 300 at a time."

"Do you think you could?" again asked Dr. Christianson.

"Well, I can try," said Steve.

"Can you do 300 in sets of 10?   I have a class project in mind and I need
you to do about 300 push-ups in sets of ten for this to work.   Can you do
it?   I need you to tell me you can do it," said the professor.

Steve said, "Well... I think I can... yeah, I can do it."

Dr. Christianson said, "Good!   I need you to do this on Friday.   Let me
explain what I have in mind."

Friday came and Steve got to class early and sat in the front of the room.
When class started, the professor pulled out a big box of donuts.   These
weren't the normal kinds of donuts.   They were the extra fancy BIG kind,
with cream centers and frosting swirls.   Everyone was pretty excited it
was Friday, the last class of the day and they were going to get an early
start on the weekend with a party in Dr. Christianson's class.

Dr. Christianson went to the first girl in the first row and asked,
"Cynthia, do you want to have one of these donuts?"

Cynthia said, "Yes."

Dr. Christianson then turned to Steve and asked, "Steve, would you do ten
push-ups so that Cynthia can have a donut?"

"Sure!"    Steve jumped down from his desk to do a quick ten.   Then Steve
again sat in his desk.   Dr. Christianson put a donut on Cynthia's desk.

Dr. Christianson then went to Joe, the next person, and asked, "Joe, do you
want a donut?"

Joe said, "Yes."

Dr. Christianson asked, "Steve would you do ten push-ups so Joe can have a
donut?"

Steve did ten push-ups, Joe got a donut.   And so it went, down the first
aisle, Steve did ten push-ups for every person before they got their donut.

Walking down the second aisle, Dr. Christianson came to Scott.   Scott was
on the basketball team and in as good condition as Steve.   He was very
popular and never lacking for female companionship.   The professor asked,
"Scott do you want a donut?"

Scott's reply was, "Well, can I do my own push-ups?"

Dr. Christianson said, "No, Steve has to do them."

Then Scott said, "Well, I don't want one then."

Dr. Christianson shrugged and then turned to Steve and asked, "Steve, would
you do ten push-ups so Scott can have a donut he doesn't want?"

With perfect obedience Steve started to do ten push-ups.

Scott said, "HEY! I said I didn't want one!"

Dr. Christianson said, "Look, this is my classroom, my class, my desks and
these are my donuts.   Just leave it on the desk if you don't want it."
And he put a donut on Scott's desk.

By this time, Steve had begun to slow down a little.   He just stayed on
the floor between sets because it took too much effort to be getting up and
down.   You could start to see a little perspiration coming out around his
brow.

Dr. Christianson started down the third row.   Now the students were
beginning to get a little angry.   Dr. Christianson asked Jenny, "Jenny, do
you want a donut?"

Sternly, Jenny said, "No."

Then Dr. Christianson asked Steve, "Steve, would you do ten more push-ups
so Jenny can have a donut that she doesn't want?"

Steve did ten.   Jenny got a donut.

By now, a growing sense of uneasiness filled the room.   The students were
beginning to say, "No!" and there were all these uneaten donuts on the
desks.

Steve had to really put forth a lot of extra effort to get these push-ups
done for each donut.   There began to be a small pool of sweat on the floor
beneath his face, his arms and brow were beginning to get red because of
the physical effort involved.

Dr. Christianson asked Robert, who was the most vocal unbeliever in the
class, to watch Steve do each push up to make sure he did the full ten
push-ups in a set because he couldn't bear to watch all of Steve's work for
all of those uneaten donuts.   He sent Robert over to where Steve was so
Robert could count the set and watch Steve closely.

Dr. Christianson started down the fourth row.   During his class, however,
some students from other classes had wandered in and sat down on the steps
along the radiators that ran down the sides of the room.   When the
professor realized this, he did a quick count and saw that now there were
34 students in the room. He started to worry if Steve would be able to
make it.

Dr. Christianson went on to the next person and the next and the next.
Near the end of that row, Steve was really having a rough time.   He was
taking a lot more time to complete each set.

Steve asked Dr. Christianson, "Do I have to make my nose touch on each
one?"

Dr. Christianson thought for a moment, "Well, they're your push-ups.   You
can do them any way that you want."   And Dr. Christianson went on.

A few moments later, Jason, a recent transfer student, came to the room
and was about to come in when all the students yelled in one voice, "NO!
Don't come in!   Stay out!"

Jason didn't know what was going on.   Steve picked up his head and said,
"No, let him come."

Dr. Christianson said, "You realize that if Jason comes in you will have to
do ten push-ups for him?"

Steve said, "Yes, let him come in.   Give him a donut."

Dr. Christianson said, "Okay, Steve, I'll let you get Jason's out of the
way right now.    Jason, do you want a donut?"

Jason, new to the room, hardly knew what was going on.   "Yes," he said,
"give me a donut."

"Steve, will you do ten push-ups so that Jason can have a donut?"

Steve did ten push-ups very slowly and with great effort.   Jason,
bewildered, was handed a donut and sat down.   Dr Christianson finished the
fourth row, and then started on those visitors seated by the heaters.
Steve's arms were now shaking with each push-up in a struggle to lift
him against the force of gravity.   By this time sweat was profusely
dropping off of his face, there was no sound except his heavy breathing.
There was not a dry eye in the room.

The very last two students in the room were two young women, both
cheerleaders and very popular.   Dr. Christianson went to Linda, the second
to last, and asked, "Linda, do you want a doughnut?"

Linda said, very sadly, "No, thank you."

Professor Christianson quietly asked, "Steve, would you do ten push-ups so
that Linda can have a donut she doesn't want?"

Grunting from the effort, Steve did ten very slow push-ups for Linda.

Then Dr. Christianson turned to the last girl, Susan and said, "'Susan, do
you want a donut?"

Susan, with tears flowing down her face, began to cry.   "Dr. Christianson,
can I help him?"

Dr Christianson, with tears of his own, said, "No, Steve has to do it
alone.   I have given him this task and he is in charge of seeing that
everyone has an opportunity for a donut whether they want it or not.   When
I decided to have a party this last day of class, I looked at my grade
book.   Steve here is the only student with a perfect grade.   Everyone
else has failed a test, skipped class or offered me inferior work.   Steve
told me that in football practice, when a player messes up he must do
push-ups.   I told Steve that none of you could come to my party unless he
paid the price by doing your push-ups.   He and I made a deal for your
sakes."

"Steve, would you do ten push-ups so Susan can have a donut?"

As Steve very slowly finished his last push-up, with the understanding that
he had accomplished all that was required of him, having done 350 push-ups,
his arms buckled beneath him and he fell to the floor.

Dr. Christianson turned to the room and said, "And so it was, that our
Savior, Jesus Christ, on the cross, said to the Father, 'Into thy hands I
commend my spirit.'   With the understanding that Jesus had done everything
that was required of him, he yielded up his life.   And like some of those
in this room, many of us leave the gift on the desk, uneaten."

Two students helped Steve up off the floor and to a seat, physically
exhausted, but wearing a thin smile.   "Well done, good and faithful
servant," said the professor, adding, "Not all sermons are preached in
words."

Turning to his class, the professor said, "My wish is that you might
understand and fully comprehend all the riches of grace and mercy that have
been given to you through the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ.   God spared not his only begotten son, but gave him up for us all,
for the whole Church, now and forever.   Whether or not we choose to accept
God's gift to us, the price has been paid."

Wouldn't you be foolish and ungrateful to leave it lying on the desk?

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only
Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have
eternal life.   For God did not send His Son into the world
to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

As days pass on the Obama administration, a stark realization is dawning. Obama's definition of change was starkly different than what the voters thought he meant.

This miscalculation should be chalked up to the inexperience of Obama and those around him. Much like Elvis, Obama's handlers kept telling him to keep pushing, because the American people love him. The kept telling him the tea party movement was a fabrication and that the majority of people wanted him to continue.

The Saint is still not sure whether he really understands. In an interview the day after the Mass. election, he attempted to equate his election with the tea party anger, saying that the anger that elected him also elected Sen. Brown. He then went on to AGAIN attempt to blame the loss on "the last eight years", a spin meisters attempt to blame Bush yet again for the inept handling of his first year in office.

The Game has changed, the Independent voters are done with the Democratic party and their misunderstanding of basic economic theory and their constant attempt to stoke the fire of class warfare.

A couple final predictions: Pelosi and Reed are out. They will be voted out of office and the Senate will return to Republican control.

The marxist/socialist agenda is badly damaged. In 2 years, we will start to dig ourselves out.

Global Warming and ClimateGate

Those that have followed the Saint, know he has been a sceptic of the whole Global Warming scare. Well, it seems that some of the scientists associated with the "settled science" of global warming have been found to have changed some of the data points and also attempted to silence "skeptics".

If this is true, this is one of the largest frauds conducted by the UN and its so-called scientists.

Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma was one of the first Senators to call "bullshit" on the global warming fraud almost 5 years ago.

He is also calling for a senate investigation into the fraud and the UN. Stay tuned.

Darwin and Evolution

Today the Saint read an article on Darwin and his motivation for writing his theory of evolution. Several points that were especially interesting:

1. Darwin set out to find a theory of nature that excluded God, rather than the approach of gathering facts and coming to a conclusion.

2. DNA had not been discovered at the time he wrote compiled his works.

3. Darwin believed in Lamarckism. Here is the explanation from the article:
"The concept is, for example, if a giraffe stretches its neck, builds its neck muscles and develops a longer neck, it will pass on that trait to baby giraffes. Their necks are expected to be a little bit longer and stronger because of the practices of the parents," he said. "Lamarckism is the laughingstock of the scientific community because if I run a marathon and develop strong leg muscles and excellent cardio, does that mean my children will benefit from that? Absolutely not. That's ridiculous."

4. Darwin actually got most of his theory from his grandfather.

5. Capt. FitzRoy was also along on the journey. He collected more species than Darwin did and came to a different conclusion than Darwin.

Last week, however, three leading Democrats in Congress were asked during news conferences to cite the constitutional authority for their healthcare proposals. To a one, they responded with answers that betrayed unmitigated arrogance and a disdain for our Constitution second to none in our nation's noble history.
"Are you serious? Are you serious?" replied House Speaker Nancy Pelosi when asked specifically about the constitutional authority for Obama's health care proposal. Pelosi's spokesman later clarified, "You can put this on the record: That is not a serious question. That is not a serious question." (Apparently, there was an echo in the chamber.)

Democrat House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer attempted to answer the question by demonstrating his illimitable ignorance on the subject: "Well, in promoting the general welfare the Constitution obviously gives broad authority to Congress to effect [a mandate that individuals must buy health insurance]. The end that we're trying to effect is to make health care affordable, so I think clearly this is within our constitutional responsibility."

Perhaps Hoyer should take a basic civics course on the "General Welfare" clause in Article 1, Section 8, as written by James Madison. On the limitations of the Constitution, Madison wrote: "I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents..."

Finally, Democrat Patrick Leahy, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee (where Rule of Law once prevailed), responded to the question of constitutional authority by insisting, "We have plenty of authority. ... I mean, there's no question there's authority. Nobody questions that. Where do we have the authority to set speed limits on an interstate highway? The federal government does that on federal highways." (No, actually, the states set speed limits, and only misinterpretation of the Commerce Clause by judicial activists could be construed to give the federal government such authority.)

As for Obama, his publicist, Robert Gibbs, claimed, "I won't be confused as a constitutional scholar, but I don't believe there's a lot of -- I don't believe there's a lot of case law that would demonstrate the veracity of [questions about constitutional authority]."

For sure, nobody will confuse Gibbs with a scholar of any stripe. And, we would remind Gibbs that when the Clintonistas attempted to nationalize healthcare (18 percent of the U.S. economy) back in 1994, the bi-partisan Congressional Budget Office issued this piece of analysis: "The government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States. An individual mandate ... would impose a duty on individuals as members of society [and] require people to purchase a specific service that would be heavily regulated by the federal government."

Lackeys for the White House

On Monday, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow were among several people who attended an off-the-record briefing with Pres. Obama at the White House. Sources tell us other attendees at the two-and-a-half hour chat included Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post, Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Gwen Ifill of PBS and Gloria Borger of CNN. Perhaps not surprisingly, no one from Fox News was in the room.

So today, Oblermann attacks the Tea Parties. Coincidence? I don't think so.

White House Final Admits that Major News Networks Work for Them

From the Patriot Post: Director Anita Dunn recently accused FOX News of being "a wing of the Republican Party." She added that from here forward, "We're going to treat [Fox News] the way we would treat an opponent. ... We don't need to pretend that this is the way that legitimate news organizations behave."

So the corollary to this is since FOX is viewed as the opponent, the other networks aren't. Just let that sink in for a minute. The White House doesn't view the other networks as an opponent i.e. able to ask tough questions of the White House policies.

This is a shocking admission by the White House and should give pause to everyone who believes a free press should be challenging the administration's policies rather than rolling over and accepting everything the White House says at face value.

In other words, in the opinion of the White House Director Anita Dunn, FOX News is the only network that is fulfilling its responsibilities under the US Constitution.

News Flash - Payments to US Government not a tax

The Saint is so happy, his taxes just went down. You see, not all money that is paid to the US Government because of a law passed by Congress is a tax.

Now we know how Obama could say that he will not increase taxes, he just denies that a tax is a tax. He even disagrees with the dictionaries definition of a tax. What a great idea. Just change the meaning of a word to fit your own definition.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they tudied little. The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

Public Option a Smoke Screen

While the nation is fixated on the "public option" smoke screen, the real trojan horse is the "no exclusion for pre-existing conditions". I have written about this before, but wanted to expand on it a little.

Here are the 2 possible scenarios:
1. Obamacare passes with the public option. Private insurance companies are forced to cover people with cancer, HIV, etc. They have to significantly raise their rates to recover the costs of these extremely terminally ill policy holders. People cannot afford private insurance and are therefore forced to take the government option, whose price is set artificially low by the government. The insurance companies either go out of business or are "bailed out" by the government, and the government becomes the only shareholder of the "private" companies while still being the "owner" of the public option.

2. Obamacare passes without the public option. The law still requires the insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions. The significant costs require them to raise their rates, but the government passes laws to control the increase of premiums or the policy holders can't afford the new significantly higher rates and drop coverage by the millions. The insurance companies threaten to go bankrupt, so the government steps in and "bails out" the insurance companies, thus becoming the only shareholder of most of the "private" insurance companies. Single payor becomes a reality through the backdoor.

In both scenarios the government ends up running healthcare, and the government becomes the de facto owner of all health facilities and every healthcare worker becomes a de facto employee of the US Government.

On the Town Hall Meetings - poor wittle congress people

Those poor wittle congress people, had to listen to the big bad citizens, and the big bad citizens said loud words to the poor wittle powerless congress people, and it hurt their feelings and they cried to the news media about how mean those big bad citizens were. Bad citizens, bad. Go sit in the corner until you won't use the outside voice again and hurt the poor wittle congress persons feelings. The poor wittle congress persons were just trying to keep the big bad citizens from doing bad things like disagreeing with the poor wittle congress people, because the poor wittle congress people know what is best for the big bad citizens. Law of Supply and Demand

Faithful readers of the Saint, know of his distain for politicians who believe they can repeal the law of supply and demand.

The current healthcare or is it now health insurance reform movement fails to understand the time test law of supply and demand. So let the Saint attempt to bring this law down to a level even Democrats can understand.

40 million more people going to a fixed number of doctors when the US government will be fixing the price = shortages

Price controls via use of the "public" option with fixed number of doctors = shortages.

40 million more people with falling number of doctors and price controls = shortages.

Forcing insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions (higher costs) while using price controls (public option) = bankruptcy of insurance companies = collapse of financial system (again) = government "helping" by taking over insurance companies = government control of all healthcare.

THere you go, there will be a test later.

Heckuvajob has heckuva low IQ

While reading an article at the Bozeman Daily Chronicle on a request by Democrats that the local Republican party sign an “agreement” to be nice, the following comment was made:

It appears “heckuvajob” failed his civics class in high school, or at least was gone for that part about who writes the laws under the US Constitution. But last I checked, the bailouts or TARP was written by Congress. Now, if I am not mistaken, Congress was controlled by the Democrats the last 2 years of the Bush administration. I also seem to remember something about how the TARP legislation passed pretty much along party lines, with a few RINOs voting with the Democrats in the senate to get the bill passed.

So why is heckupvajob blaming everything on Bush and Paulson. The answer is stupidity or partisanship. In this case, it is probably a combination.

The Trojan horse of pre-existing conditions

The real Trojan horse in the healthcare bills that no one is talking about, will be the requirement that insurance companies cover all individuals, even those with pre-existing conditions. If insurance companies are forced to cover these individuals, they will have to raise prices or go out of business. There is simply no other option. If the government has an artificially lower cost option, then there will be no private insurance companies.

1. Healthcare - Once healthcare is nationalized, there will be an acute shortage of doctors. To address this issue and the declining quality of care brought on by this shortage, the US Government will take over any hospital, clinic or doctors office which it determines is delivering poor care.
2. Pharmaceuticals - The democrats believe drugs are too expensive. They will push price controls on the Rx companies. When they Rx companies threaten to go out of business because of decreased revenues, the US Government will "help" them like they did the auto companies.
3. Oil Industry - Eventually, the price of oil is going to go up and be higher than the politicians like it to be. This "crisis" will result in price controls which will decimate production which will push prices higher. To save the "middle class" drastic governmental intervention will be required.
4. Real Estate - As the RE industry continues to struggle, the ultimate "fix" will be to have the US Government buy as many properties as possible to attempt to lower supply and increase prices. At this point, someone will find in the US Constitution the right to "own a home" which will be "Lease" it to you. Private ownership is "bad" anyway under the communal ownership beliefs of this administration, so all will be well.

One bad turn deserves another

If you listened closely to Obama's talking points on the "stimulus" package, you will notice the time honored (or dishonored) tactic of justifying a bad policy by drawing attention to another bad policy.

When asked about why he didn't remove the spending portion of the bill and leave the true stimulus portion to help reduce the price tag, Obama goes into his standard "well I inherited this deficit that doubled in the last 8 years" excuse.

So in his twisted logic, it is OK to increase the deficit because the deficit increased over the last 8 years.

Of course the worst thing about this that no one in the press is challenging him on it. Guess the honeymoon is still on.

Executive Pay Caps

It seems that the Obama administration now believes it has the ability to void contracts. Yesterday, Obama announced, unilaterally, that his administration would cap the pay of executives at any company that received bail out money.

Since 99.9% of the executives have a contract spelling out their compensation, the only way to "cap" the salary is for the contract to be voided in some form or fashion. And the only way that Obama can void them is if he has the legal authority to do so. Which he doesn't.

So the lawsuits are probably already being filed, and if the US Constitution is still in force, the execs will win, because the US Government doesn't have the power to void the contracts. We will see just how far towards communism we are headed.

Cure for Recession

A recession is largely an emotional issue. Once consumer view their future as bleak, they begin to spend less. As companies do their market studies, consumer confidence numbers then drive down sales forecasts and companies lay off employees. All in anticipation of lower sales. Layoffs don't occur after the fact, they are a leading indicator to the companies prediction of FUTURE sales.

So what is "the One" doing? He is predicting darker times ahead. So consumer confidence goes down and the recession continues, as a self fullfiling prophecy.

The Democrats want the recession to continue as long as possible. It allows them to continue to attack the free market with socialist laws and to continue to reward their constituants with pork which they call "stimulas". The only thing most of the spending will do is stimulate more political contributions to the democrats. We are already seeing lawyers and the teachers unions being rewarded.

If "The One" really wants to turn the economy around, he should predict that it will be over by April. That won't cost a trillion dollars.

Bailing out the Auto Industry

One has to wonder why a congresswoman from California wants to help “save” the auto industry. Well it all has to do with politics as usual.

You see, if the Big 3 auto makers file for reorganization under the bankruptcy laws, they will be able to withdraw from the contracts with their unions. And since the unions are run by and for the benefit of democrats, the democratic leadership is pulling for a bail out. You will also notice that the “foreign” car makers (also known as the non-unionized auto makers) are not being included in the proposed bailout. What a coincidence.

Now, the way capitalism works is if the consumer doesn’t need or want a product, the company that produces the product needs to change its product or the way it is doing business. A government bailout just delays the inevitable.

So you think the Saint is unsympathetic? Well you would be wrong. The Saint is losing his job at the end of the year, but he isn’t blaming the current President or his administration. He is blaming over-reaching congressional pork passers.

Bottom line, the current economic downturn is a natural occurrence. The best things the government can do are cut taxes and reduce regulation. But that won’t happen with democrats involved.

Past association with known racists (both black and white)
Belief in socialist and Marxist doctrine, such as wealth redistribution.
Past jobs, especially those that are partisan or political in nature.
Questions as to one’s belief in capitalism.
Decisions made on national defense matters.
Past voting records or lack thereof.
Politicians position on abortion, fighting terrorists, economics, etc.
Questions as to why far left of far right activists support a particular candidate. (i.e. what beliefs does the candidate have in common with those groups)
Why campaign workers are members of far left or far right fringe groups.
Questioning an opponent’s patriotism.

Inappropriate Political Discussion Points (i.e. personal attacks)

Discussion of behavior of politician’s children.
Making light of a persons appearance (hair style, clothing, eyeglass styles, speech patterns, etc)

Unconstitutional Expansion

The Saint hasn’t said much about the recent “financial crisis” that is, according to the politicians, about to through the world into a depression.

Even more maddening is the fact that this “financial crisis” was caused in great measure by the US Government, not by the so called “greedy” Wall Street crowd.

As history has taught us, politicians use such “financial crisis” as a way to further subjugate the American people. If anyone truly believes that more regulation will make the markets work effectively or efficiently, then I have some swamp land, I mean real estate in Florida to sell you.

History also teaches us that politicians need to keep the masses upset about something. This gives them the pretense to again exert more control and increase the politician’s power.

And the most disturbing thing that has come out of this “financial crisis” is that the politicians have somehow found in the US Constitution that they are responsible to prevent companies from going out of business.

The bottom line is the recent “bailout” that was approved by Congress and signed by President Bush was the largest unconstitutional expansion of power ever in the history of the US.

Both political candidates are overreacting to the current financial problems on Wall Street. McCain and Obama both are blaming Washington in some form or fashion. Yet their only suggestion so far, even from the “conservative” McCain is more regulation.

Senators Byron Dorgan (D- ND) and Carl Levin (D-Mich) have to be two of the most economically stupid senators that have ever.

And why are they stupid? For comments like this:

Unfortunately, this type of comment seems to be the norm for the Marxists that have gotten themselves elected to congress.

What the Senators don’t understand is that corporations don’t pay taxes, their customers do. If you raise taxes on corporations, they will pass that cost along to their customers just like any other cost of doing business.

The Saint is fed up with America. Hopefully he is wrong in thinking that Americans are stupid, maybe the MSM just portrays us that way. But we have to be out of our collective minds. Why, well let me give you a few examples.

Is seems most of the American population has the attention span of a fly. Can’t topple a murdering dictator and completely rebuild a society in 6 months, well then we have failed in Iraq. Pull out, give up, its not worth it.

Can’t stop Islamic Extremists from killing people, well we failed there, maybe we should “talk” to them and see if that will stop them.

People losing their houses because they thought they could buy a house and have it appreciate 25% per year forever; it is clearly the banks fault right? It wasn’t you trying to make some fast profits on over-inflated real estate. Maybe you shouldn’t have been watching all of the “flip this house” shows on HGTV.

Think the economy is in a recession? Only if you listen to the major news networks. The same ones who think Britney Spears without underwear is newsworthy. You have been lied to, not by President Bush, but by every major news outlet who has been telling you how bad the economy is and how bad you have it. If you are having some problems, maybe you will have to have 4 of the 6 phones in your house disconnected, or sell one of the 4 cars you own, or the motorcycle or the boat. Or maybe even have to cut out the 600 channels of cable you currently have available along with the highspeed internet running to the 4 computers you have in the house. Remember, times are tough.

Think President Bush has violated the US Constitution, well then, quote the section of the US Constitution that calls for the establishment of the Department of Education, or the Environmental Protection Agency, or the National Endowment for the Arts. Or how about “universal healthcare”, where is that mentioned in the US Constitution as the responsibility of the US Government? Or maybe regulating how much corporations can make before a “windfall profits tax” is levied against them, where is that mentioned?

Then let’s look at the current Presidential race. I guess we have forgotten what a communist nation looks like, where the government says it will take care of you from cradle to grave. Give you “free” healthcare and promise you a job for life. And by the way, if you don’t like the job we assign you, you get to go to a re-education camp until you like it. It used to be illegal to promise anything of value for a vote, guess that doesn’t count anymore. Being a political whore is the rule not the exception. The man from Illinois is going to give money away like water. And he will blame the deficit on the fact that we don’t tax enough, and people will believe him.

And to make matters worse, we actually have members of Congress who think capitalism is bad and that Marxism is good. Almost everyday we hear of a Marxist politician talking about how rich people need to pay more taxes for the “common good”. Folks, that is straight out of the Communist Manifesto. Karl Marx would be so proud.

Capitalism is what made this country the economic engine of the world. Not wealth redistribution. Before the government decided it needed to help the “poor”, we had local organizations (some call them churches) who took care of the local poor people. There are still a few around, Salvations Army to name one that is still doing that job, without the help of the Federal Government. They also made sure those poor people weren’t being lazy and taking advantage of charity. Not today, there are generations of “Americans” who know only welfare and public assistance. They have been enslaved by the state. They don’t understand that their only use to the “state” is getting certain politicians re-elected. Then they are forgotten until the next election.
Recently a politician working for Senator McCain put it bluntly, we have become a nation of wimps. We are no longer self-sufficient. We are constantly looking to the government for help rather than within ourselves for the strength to go out and make things happen.

Case in point, hurricane Katrina. How many years does it take for someone to get “back on their feet”? There are people, still living in trailer houses supplied by the government 3 years after it devastated New Orleans. It happened on August 23, 2005. That is right, 2005. The Saint got married at age 21, had 2 jobs, and was going to school full time. The wife worked as well. We had no money but a ton of self sufficiency. We purchased a house within one year. Tell the Saint why a person can’t have found a place to live in 3 years, even if they lost everything in the hurricane? Tell me. The Saint wants to hear how this is possible. Here is how, they spend all their time with their hand out, wanting the government to “bail them out” of a bad situation. Or they have made other bad choices in their life. But bet you a dollar every one of them has a cell phone and cable TV.

No we deserve what we get. We haven’t taught our children about true freedom. And unfortunately, the Marxists in the woodpile keeps chipping away at real freedom while trying to divert your attention to the evil George Bush. That’s right, keep your eyes on old George while we take your economic freedoms from you and your ability to disagree with our Marxist agenda. You must be a racist if you don’t agree with the anointed Barack Obama. He if for change ya know?

Unfortunately, Marx, Lennon and Mao were for change as well.

What is a "Windfall Profit"?

What is a “windfall profit”? Simple question and one that should be answered by Barack Obama since he has proposed charging a “windfall profits tax” to help pay for a $1,000 per household payment to “help” with energy costs.

So tell us Mr. Obama, what is a “windfall profit”? Is it just based on dollars? If a large energy company makes $80 billion and that is considered a “windfall profit”, then would it be the same if 100 companies each made $800 million?

There is an excellent blog here discussing the issue of defining “windfall profit”.

Ultimately, if a windfall profits tax is implemented the following will happen.

1. Supplies of oil will go down
2. Prices of all products made from petroleum will go up. (not just gasoline)
3. Large energy companies will move their headquarters to Dubai where there is not income tax.
4. Tax receipts from energy companies will decrease.

So go ahead Mr. Obama, do it. At least after 4 years the government will once again be run by Republicans.

We're heading into the heart of hurricane season, and any day now, a storm will barrel toward the United States, inspiring all the TV weather reporters to find a beach where they can lash themselves to a palm tree. We can be certain of two things: First, we'll be told that the wind is blowing very hard and the surf is up. Second, some expert will tell us that this storm might be a harbinger of global warming.

Somewhere along the line, global warming became the explanation for everything. Right-thinking people are not supposed to discuss any meteorological or geophysical event -- a hurricane, a wildfire, a heat wave, a drought, a flood, a blizzard, a tornado, a lightning strike, an unfamiliar breeze, a strange tingling on the neck -- without immediately invoking the climate crisis. It causes earthquakes, plagues and backyard gardening disappointments. Weird fungus on your tomato plants? Classic sign of global warming.

Go read the whole thing. Maybe there is hope that both sides of the argument will finally be heard.

Oil Spills Caused by Importing Oil - Not Drilling

The left, lead by Her Highness Nancy Pelosi, are against expanding off shore oil leases. Presumably this opposition concerns the possibility of oil spills and environmental impact.

Unfortunately, the facts are that oil imported into the country is a much greater danger, as the oil spills of late have be caused by tankers coming from overseas.

So, if Her Highness was really concerned about the environmental impact of oil spills, she would be supporting increasing domestic drilling.

The Saint has witnessed first hand the sometimes arrogant performance of TSA staff in airports. To be fair, there are plenty of TSA personnel that don’t let the power of their position go to their head, but the chance of abuse of power is enormous.

So now the TSA is being sued for $10 million for abuse of their power. Mark my words, you will see more of this in the future as the TSA staff realizes just how much power they have.

The “force” used by these people was way beyond what was necessary. My guess is these folks have some other complaints in their files.

We are not in a war against Iraq. Iraq is our ally not our enemy. For us to be at war with Iraq, we would be fighting the government of Iraq and we would be fighting the army of Iraq. Neither of these pre-conditions exist.

So stop using the term "Iraq War". It is inaccurate.

It is apparent; the “consensus on human caused global warming” as claimed by Al Gore is a sham.
More than 31,000 scientists across the U.S. – including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s in fields such as atmospheric science, climatology, Earth science, environment and dozens of other specialties – have signed a petition rejecting "global warming," the assumption that the human production of greenhouse gases is damaging Earth's climate.

"There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate," the petition states. "Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth."
